The Best Book on Japanese Food Culture

 

If you can find a copy for sale of The History and Culture of Japanese Food by Naomichi Ishige, please email me! It's by far the best book on Japanese food culture in the English language, but sadly out of print and only available in libraries, as far as I can tell. I come back to this seminal, very readable book again and again whenever I do research (I know where all the copies live in New York City libraries). This book really helped me gain an understanding of what Japanese food is all about. Check out it out if you can get your hands on a copy.
