Shojin Ryori Arrives to New York

New York's first authentic shojin ryori restaurant opens this Thursday. Kajitsu (414 East 9th, 212-228-4873) specializes in the traditional Buddhist vegetarian cooking of Kyoto. Owned by a Kyoto fu maker with a Kyoto chef, the place feels like Kyoto, too -- a beautiful 28-seat gem (check out the stunning woodwork, especially the tables and dining bar).
